Wine Down Wednesday – Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio

Wine Review…

The holidays are always the best time to try food and drinks you normally wouldn’t.  This is especially true for the overpriced or out-of-the-budget bevvies.  Luckily for my selective cheapness, my parents always have something fancy in their wine cellar basement closet lacking insulation.  Jay Kay, they for sure have a wine fridge where they keep the good stuff and for all other non-wine related drinks they keep them in the closet.

I may have mentioned we celebrated 4 Christmases this year and at Christmas #4 my parents finally broke out the good stuff!  (typical of them to roll out the proverbial red carpet when baby sis comes home… (I swear I do not have Middle Child Syndrome))

“The good stuff” was a bottle of 2010 Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio.

Like usual, below is the description for this wine from their fancy website.

“The wine boasts a fresh, clean fragrance that is followed by a crisp, refreshing flavor with hints of citrus fruits. This wine is well-structured and sophisticated, a perfect choice for entertaining!”

Pros: Clean, refreshing and light.  Perfect for fish, poultry or veggie meals.  Always a great wine to bring for a dinner party or as a thank you for hosting gift.  Cork bottle for you twist-off haters cork collecting pinterest inspired cork craft maker.
Cons: A little pricey, not for your average run of the mill nightly drink, unless you make a nice living then be my I’ll be your guest.

Wine accessory of the week

A few weeks ago I had a girl’s night out in the city (city being NYC) with my two best betches.  We went window shopping at the little shops in Bryant Park, walked around and had dinner together.  While perusing the little shops, we of course saw these “shoes” from across the park and strolled right on in to a pop-up boutique.  They weren’t actual shoes but wine bottle holders.  Now, I’m not entirely sure how practical a “wine bottle holder” is but oh.em.gee is it adorable!  My friend bought one for her friend who loves her Louboutins!
